The Walking Dead Season 3

Back at the prison, Rick (Andrew Lincoln) tells Michonne (Danai Gurira) that she's one of them now. It looks like some of the group may be going on the run while others will stay behind to make a stand at the prison. There are lots of trucks and at least one big explosion, but there's no way to tell who's going make it through the battle and who's not.
Carl (Chandler Riggs) packing up his things in preparation to leave the prison. He comes across the photo of himself and his family in happier days and the reflection of his own face in the glass tells of sorrow that should belong to someone much older. We see everyone else is packing up as well, telling us that the plan must be for at least some of the group to abandon the prison. Carl also finds his father's badge and tucks it away in his pocket, proving that it's still important to him. Carl's final act before leaving his makeshift room is to put on his father's hat and pick up his gun. The whole thing is a bit sad, as it's hard to watch them give up the home they had made for themselves.
Governor (David Morrissey) and his people begin their invasion of the prison. They come in multiple vehicles and armed to the teeth, but are surprised when there's nobody there to defend the place. They use a truck to pull off a gate leading inside the prison itself and open a door. What they find is a mystery, as the video stops there, but we're guessing that there could be anything from a contingent of Rick's people to a hoard of trapped zombies waiting inside.

We see that
Rick is once again being visited by ghosts. Lori appears in regular
clothes and not in a flowing white dress though, so that's something.
We also see that Rick has decided that the only way to save his people
is to give Michonne to the Governor. Merle is dealing with his own
dilemmas and might just be wondering if he chose the right side or not.
Plus there's a live (sort of) zombie head on the ground. If all of that
doesn't make for what looks like another fantastic episode, I don't
know what does.
In the first sneak-peek clip, we
find Glen securing a section of the prison when Daryl comes out to join
him. Daryl asks Glen if he's seen Merle, and when Glen doesn't respond,
Daryl starts making promises about how he's going to make his brother
make things right. Glen is having none of it, but not because of the
fact that Merle tied him up, beat him senseless and threw a walker in
the room. It's because Merle gave Maggie to a man who terrorized her
and Glen definitely cares more about Maggie than he does about himself.
Daryl looks contrite, but he really has nothing to say in reply.
In the second sneak-peek clip, we
find Merle and Rick having a heart-to-heart. Surprisingly enough, Merle
is defending Michonne and pointing out to Rick why giving her to the
Governor is wrong. Merle lists all of the things that Governor is
likely to do to Michonne, and the scary thing is that we all know he's
right. Merle tells Rick that it's not worth doing that to her over just
a mere shot at survival and calls him "cold as ice." The most
interesting part of this scene might be the fact that we're completely
on Merle's side by the time it's over.

Milton pleads with the Governor to let his plans of revenge go and
return to what used to be their main goal find a cure to the walker
virus. The stubborn and evil Governor ignores him. Spoilers go on to
say that after realizing that the Governor won’t change his mind,
Milton tells Andrea the truth.
After a small altercation between Andrea, Tyrese and Sasha, the
Governor decides to go after Andrea, who has left Woodbury. Milton
attempts to stop him and the Governor figures out that Milton told
Andrea his plan. Tyrese and his group become suspicious. A game of cat
and mouse plays out in the woods, as the Governor is after Andrea
Andrea makes it to the prison, but before Rick spots her, the
Governor grabs her and brings her back to Woodbury. Before the show
comes to a close, Andrea is shown tied up in the torture chair.

Episode 13 ''Arrow On The Doorpost'' preview
Last weekend’s Walking Dead saw Rick, Michonne, and Carl make a
supply run back to Rick’s home town. While there, Rick ran into an old
friend, whose level of craziness just might have snapped Rick back into
normalcy.
According to the AMC description for “Arrow on the Doorpost,” “In an
effort to prevent any more deaths, Rick and the Governor meet to come
up with a peace treaty.” Judging from the sneak preview, Rick and Daryl
seem to be headed in to meet the Governor, while Hershel waits in the
car.

The Walking Dead” season 3
really put Andrea in the spotlight. She is torn between her loyalty to
Rick’s group of survivors (which now includes Michonne and Merle) and
her romantic feelings for the Governor, but after reuniting with Rick’s
group (and knowing the truth about what a terrible person the Governor
is) we thought that Andrea would want to be back with Rick.
Unfortunately her welcome back was less then friendly from Rick because
Michonne had clued him in on everything that happened at Woodbury with
Andrea and the Governor, so the reunion wasn’t exactly all flowers and
rainbows. Carol suggested that she put an end to the war by going back
to Woodbury, seducing the Governor one last time and killing him while
he slept, but when push came to shove Andrea found that she couldn’t do
it.
The one thing that Andrea’s visit to the prison did seem to do is
ignite Rick’s confidence as a leader. He still has one foot in
crazytown, but he is ready to start preparing for the war against the
Governor and will be looking for the supplies they need to beat him.
In a new preview for next Sunday’s all new episode called “Clear”
(which you can check out below) we see Rick, Carl and Michonne on a
supply run, looking for everything and anything that can help them in
their battle. While driving, they have to take a detour over the grass
and one of their wheels gets stuck in the mud and the nearby walkers
swarm the car.

Milton and the Governor
will be going over all the records of the people in Woodbury. The
Governor suggests that they include all men and women 13-years old and
up. While Milton disagrees, saying this would mean children, the
Governor tells him that adolescence is a 20 century invention.Andrea tells the Governor that she will not stand by as her friends are
gunned down. She, against the Governor’s orders, visits the prison.
Milton guides Tyrese, Sasha, Allen, and Ben to Woodbury. They are
welcomed there and Tyrese tells them about the prison and that they do
whatever they have to in order to earn their keep.
Daryl makes it very clear that Merle is staying and there is no
talking about it and he storms off. Rick tells Glenn that he can’t kick
Merle out. Glenn strongly objects and says to Rick “I wouldn’t ask you
to try and live with Shane after he tried to kill you.” Hershel says
that Merle has military experience, and that his behavior may be
erratic, but they shouldn’t underestimate his loyalty to his brother.

Last weekend saw the return of new episodes of The Walking Dead.
Despite being up against the Grammys, the midseason premiere of The
Walking Dead set a new ratings record for the series. Will tonight’s
new episode break that record?
According to the AMC description for “Home,” the group debates the next
step; Rick searches for a lost friend; Daryl and Merle question their
choices; the Governor restores order. However, judging from the sneak
preview, it’s really Daryl who’s questioning his choice to abandon the
security of the prison, while Merle seems content to hunt for squirrels
and fish..

With the cliffhanger of the showdown between brothers Daryl and
Merle Dixon, we’re predicting that “The Suicide King” episode of The
Walking Dead will set a new ratings record for the series. According to
the AMC description for “The Suicide King,” Rick tries to rescue a
member of his group. Woodbury is in disarray after a recent attack. New
guests raise concerns at the prison.
In several trailers for "The Suicide King" we see The Governor
ordering Andrea to go to The Prison and stay there. Is this him
kicking her out, or is Andrea willingly going to The Prison as a mole?
Perhaps there is a larger deception being played out. In some of these
trailers we see The Governor and Rick having a conversation. Could it
be that Andrea is sent to The Prison to offer peace? In the comics
when Rick and The Governor meet, he returns without a hand. I
speculated in this article whether or not the taskmasters of the
televised Walking Dead would invite the dozens of FX shots
needed to digitally remove Andrew Lincoln's hand into their budget.
It's doubtful they will, but it's not such a stretch to think that The
Governor might do something to rick that approximates that level of
savagery.

This week’s episode of The Walking Dead is entitled “Made To
Suffer.” According to the AMC description, “Andrea steps up when the
people of Woodbury are thrown into uncharted territory; a new threat
arises at the prison.”
In the official sneak preview for “Made To Suffer,” Andrea is fixing
her hair, when she notices a picture of The Governor and his family.
Andrea picks up the photo and stares at it. Then , she hears The
Governor approaching so she puts it back down. When The Governor walks
up behind her, Andrea tells him that she promised Milton that she would
help him cremate their test subject’s body. After a brief conversation,
The Governor points out to Andrea that Woodbury is starting to grow on
her.

Merle is spotted ,threatening to kill Glenn with a whole bunch of
walkers
if he doesn’t give up Rick and the crew’s location. Then the Governor
tells Maggie to take her shirt off or else he’ll chop Glenn’s hand off.
At one point, Glenn headbutts the hell out of Merle,which will surely
piss him off to all hell. Andrea is spotted still trying to get her
freak on with the evil Governor as she remains in the dark and clueless
as usual.
, Rick is spotted taking off to go rescue Glenn and
Maggie. I’m guessing Michonne,Daryl,and the others are joining Rick in
the mission. Rick tells little Carl to protect Herschel and the others.
Meanwhile, the evil Governor tells Maggie,he’s going to return her
and Glenn back to Rick and the crew,but he’s just lying. Towards the
end of
the clip,tons of walkers are spotted on the attack.
On last week’s show Rick was on the phone and told the caller that
“we are dying here”. Meanwhile, Andrea jumped the wall of Woodbury, can
you blame her after she was in the audience for the sick and twisted
fight night? Perhaps Andrea should have left when she had the chance,
ya think? A concerned citizen warned Andrea, “We’re not supposed to go
over the wall!” and her escape doesn’t last that long because in the
preview, the Governor tells Andrea, “You don’t have to be ashamed about
liking the fight – I love it.”
On tonight’s show Michonne ends up at the prison with some walkers
and I was shocked at first to see that they didn’t try to kill her
right away, but don’t worry, next week they come after her behind the
prison gate and she does some creative slicing and dicing until Rick
takes her in. Michonne then goes on to tell Rick and the group all
about the Governor and his dirty little town of Woodbury, she also
tells them about Maggie and Glen’s abduction. I got a feeling the
Governor is going to have a run for his money with Michonne and Rick
teamed up together.

Last week, the “Say The Word” episode
of The Walking Dead showed us what the fine folks of Woodbury like to
do for entertainment. At the end of the episode, Rick Grimes got a
phone call in the prison. Who could be on the line? Or has Rick just
gone completely crazy?
This week’s episode of The Walking Dead is entitled “Hounded.”
According to the AMC description, “As Andrea grows closer to the
Governor, Michonne makes a decision about Woodbury. Glenn and Maggie go
on a run. Rick struggles.”
In the official sneak preview for “Hounded,” the survivors in the
prison are enjoying a meal, when Rick Grimes shows up. Rick asks if
everybody is ok, and Maggie says they are, but then Hershel asks, “What
about you?” Rick says that he cleared out the boiler block. When Daryl
asks how many were there, Rick doesn’t know, but he estimates a dozen
or two dozen.
Rick says he just wanted to check on Carl, but he has to get back.
When Glenn offers to handle taking out the bodies, Rick says he has to
do it. Rick asks Daryl if everyone has a gun and knife, and Daryl says
they are starting to run low on ammunition. Glenn says he and Maggie
are planning to make a run to look for bullets and formula. Daryl also
says he cleared out the generator room, and Rick says “good” before
leaving again.

Last week, the “Killer Within” episode
of The Walking Dead really shook things up. Not one, but two main cast
members were killed off in the shocking episode. At the end of the
episode, Rick Grimes was rolling on the ground, sobbing over the death
of his wife. It will be very interesting to see where things pick up.
Will Rick spend the episode crying the blues or will he pick himself
up, dust himself off and go on a zombie killing spree?
This week’s episode of The Walking Dead is entitled “Say the Word.”
According to the AMC description, “After another loss, Rick struggles.
Michonne remains suspicious of the Governor as he throws a party with a
unique twist for the people of Woodbury.”
In the official sneak preview for “Say the Word,” Glenn is digging a
grave, when he is approached by the two remaining prisoners. Axel asks
Glenn if he needs any help. At first Glenn turns to walk away, but when
Axel tells him that his friends were good folks, Glenn corrects him
that they were family. Oscar tells Glenn that he’s only had one friend
like that in his life and that he’s sorry for his loss. Glenn thinks
for awhile, but then he hands the shovel to the prisoners and tells
them he needs two more graves.

This week’s episode of The Walking Dead is entitled “Killer Within.”
According to the AMC description, “The group is severed and lives are
put in jeopardy. In Woodbury, Merle has a request for the Governor.”
In the official sneak preview for “Killer Within,” Rick and his
group are getting prepared for a long day of burning zombie corpses,
when Carol asks where Glenn and Maggie are. Daryl points out that Glenn
and Maggie are in the guard tower, which surprises Rick because they
were just up there last night. Daryl calls out to ask Glenn if he is
coming, and a shirtless Glenn pops out of the door. Evidently, there
was a little romance happening in the guard tower.

After witnessing
an accident, Andrea and Michonne are introduced to a new community of
survivors. As conflicts arise with their new acquaintances, a decision
must be made.
Walk With Me" features the
introduction of a new character who certainly intrigues us—and brings up something that may be a bit of a sore spot for someone. It also will show
Merle's return,
and if you're anything like us an have been waiting for his return
since they discovered he cut off his hand to free himself from the
roof, you should like this episode. We also get to see how Merle (Michael Rooker) had adapted to his new arm accessory.
If you missed
Andrea and Michonne in episode 2, this is the episode for you. They're going to end up in Woodbury, which is a good thing for Andrea (Laurie Holden), who is still sick like we saw her in the premiere, but Michonne's (Danai Gurira)
going to be keeping an eye out on the community. While we already want
to see them get out of Woodbury because we know nothing is as it seems
there, especially with the Governor, there is at least one reason why
it's good they were found (other than Andrea needing medicine).

a coma to find the world ravaged with zombies. Looking for his family,
he and a group of survivors attempt to battle against the zombies in
order to stay alive.

The wait is finally over. After a weekend long marathon of episodes
of The Walking Dead from previous seasons, The Walking Dead season 3
premieres at 9 PM ET on Sunday, October 14 on AMC.
With the world
growing increasingly more dangerous and Lori's pregnancy advancing,
Rick discovers a potentially safe haven. But first he must secure the
premises, pushing his group to its limit.
The Walking Dead season 3 premiere episode is entitled “Seed,” which
is likely a reference to Lori Grimes’ pregnancy. However, there are
often twists associated with Walking Dead episode titles, so maybe it
isn’t the obvious meaning. AMC’s description for the episode says,
“With the world growing increasingly more dangerous and Lori’s
pregnancy advancing, Rick discovers a potentially safe haven. But first
he must secure the premises, pushing his group to its limit.”
The Walking Dead “Seed” episode was written by Glen Mazzara and
directed by Ernest Dickerson. In this sneak peek of the episode, the
survivors try to build a plan as to how to avoid the zombie herds. Rick
Grimes tells the others, “We can’t keep going house to house. We need
to find someplace to hold up for a few weeks.”
The Walking Dead makes its hotly anticipated return this
Sunday on AMC, and we've had a chance to preview the first couple of
episodes. We barely escaped with our lives.
With the loss of Shane and Dale, the character-scape of
The Walking Dead
has been altered immensely. Shane, of course, had tendrils that ran
into every aspect of the series dramatic arcs, while Dale embodied the
moral questions of the series in way that really spurned the often deep
and philosophical after-show talk. I guess the pontificating is all up
to us now. So how do you deal with the sudden loss of such integral
narrative components? You jump ahead, just a wee bit.
The Walking Dead picks up some time after last year's
finale finding Rick's dictatorship in full swing, and unopposed, as the
group drifts about exhausted without any base. They have spent months
trying to break out of an increasingly tightening corridor, flanked by
drifting hoards of the undead that have forced the group to circle
across the same area over and over again, picking it clean of its
resources and descending into the less savory aspects of scavenging.
No-one is preoccupied with thoughts of those who passed, or why, yet it
is pretty clear where some of the emotional chips have fallen,
particularly between Rick and Lauri.
The opening scenes of
The Walking Dead
do a chilling job of showing us how the characters, and the writers,
have moved on from those shocking losses, and become more focused on
this new and desperately shifting core. There is new emotional baggage
that has been slung over their collective shoulders since we last saw
them, making it as interesting to learn about this missing piece of
their past as it is to learn about their future. And of course, there
are zombies.
Complaints for season 2 largely homed in on the fact that there just
wasn't enough undead. The counter argument, as always, was that the
season did some of its best character based story telling, but it was
too late: Season one and much of two had already shown us that
The Walking Dead brain-trust was very capable of doing both in parallel.
"Seed" is so successful at blending
The Walking Dead's
grotesque genius for Zombie action with gripping character drama that
it not only makes any of that criticism moot, it really raises the
bar. There really does seem to be an effort to step up the intensity a
notch between season one and two, and that imperative is evident here
with season three of
The Walking Dead as well.
The Walking Dead has reached its blood stained state-of-the art.
I would be doing you a major disservice to give you too many
specific details of "Seed", but here are a few things to keep in mind:
- Words you probably will not hear this season: "Carl, get in the house!"
- Herschel is NOT the new Dale, he's Herschel. Damnit.
- Rick strikes me as so withdrawn, and so changed, I wonder how much of the old Rick still exists.
- The zombie deaths are fast, furious, and often cruelly inventive.
- When hankering for some Michonne, consider these words: Tease and Deny.
