New York Knicks vs Miami Heat
The Knicks have won eight straight and will be looking to extend their streak to nine tonight after they took down the Celtics by 108-89 on Sunday. Carmelo Anthony led the team with 24 points and 10 rebounds while JR Smith added 15 points and 12 rebounds, but Knicks were able to share the minutes after they rode into halftime on the back of a 17-point lead, so just about everyone got on the scoreboard. Chris Copeland provided a quick-fire 22 points in just 20 minutes off the bench, but the real positive for the Knicks was that they combined to shoot 14 of 27 from the three-point line which has been the highlight in most of their wins this season. On a side note, Tyson Chandler missed the team's last 10 outings and is listed as questionable for tonight's meeting with the Heat.
Meanwhile, the Heat are coming into this game off one of their biggest wins of the season after taking down the Spurs by 88-86 without LeBron James or Dwyane Wade. Chris Bosh led the team with 23 points while Ray Allen added 14 points off the bench, but the real highlights of the win were the Heat's defense which held the Spurs to 86 points, and the Heat's ability to hit threes (12 of 28) without the penetration from James or Wade. Miami have now won two straight since having their historic win streak snapped on Wednesday, but Wade and James are still listed as questionable for this game so winning a third straight might not be so straightforward.
In ATS trends, the Knicks are 4-0 ATS in their last four road games and 8-1 ATS in their last nine games overall, while the Heat are 4-1 ATS in their last five games overall and 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games against a team with a winning record.
Head to head, the Knicks have won two of three meetings this season although the Heat won the latest meeting by 99-93 on Mar 3. In ATS trends, the Knicks are 3-7 ATS in the last 10 meetings overall and 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings in Miami.
The fact that the line is already out for this game suggests that James and Wade are playing tonight, but even if they do, I still think the value is on the Knicks tonight. Sure, the Heat have been on fire (especially at home), but the Knicks are in some seriously good form themselves and should be able to keep this game close and maybe even win tonight.
