THE SIX POINTS
1. The home ground advantage failed to live up to its name for the Power in 2012; they lost nine of 12 games at AAMI Stadium, including the last six.
2. The Giants’ midfield reigned supreme in their upset defeat of the Power last year, winning the total possession count, contested possessions and tackles.
3. Port hasn’t won its opening two games of the season since 2010 and hasn’t entered round two on top of the ladder since its premiership season of 2004.
4. GWS only played at AAMI Stadium once last year, against Adelaide. They Giants were competitive and trailed by just 17 points at half time on their way to a 46-point loss.
5. If ever there was a case of the master taking on the apprentice, this is it. Saturday night’s game will be GWS coach Kevin Sheedy’s 659th, while it will be Power coach Ken Hinkley’s second.
6. Sheedy’s record at AAMI Stadium is not a highlight of his coaching career. The legendary coach has won just six out of 23 games at the venue.
