Indonesia vs Arsenal

Arsenal will start pre-season with a friendly against the Indonesian national team. The match will be played at the Gelora Bung Karno stadium in the capital city of Jakarta. The new Premier League season begins on 17 August, with the Gunners hosting Aston Villa in north London.
Arsene Wenger's pre-season includes games against the Vietnamese national team and Japanese club Nagoya Grampus and Urawa Diamonds before returning home to face Napoli and Galatasaray. The build-up to the new campaign concludes with a game against Manchester City in China.

The hosts are likely to ship quite a few goals in this game, with a very strong Arsenal first team having touched down in the Asian island nation earlier this week. National team coach Jacksen Tiago Ferreira has called up 24 players for this one-off match, with 23-year-old midfielder Stefano Lilipaly the only player based outside Indonesia; he plays for Dutch second division club Almere City.
Recent form does not bode well for Indonesia. The national team have not won since the 1-0 defeat of Singapore in November, in a group stage game for the 2012 AFF Suzuki Cup; they were eliminated from Group B by hosts Malaysia and Singapore.
Moreover, Ferreira's men have lost all four internationally-recognised games this calendar year and all six games in the group stages for qualification for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. Their last game was a heavy 0-3 defeat to Netherlands, in a friendly in Jakarta.
Meanwhile, Arsenal have a potentially crucial season ahead. Key first team players like Jack Wilshere have stressed on the importance of a strong and winning start to the year, if they are to challenge for a first title in nearly a decade. And that will have to begin with a strong pre-season.

Wenger has further heaped pressure on his players by hinting that while he remains committed to the club, he will consider his future at the Emirates if this season does not go well; his present contract expires next summer and Ligue 1 champions Paris St Germain (PSG) are long-time admirers.
Arsenal have been linked with a host of high-profile signings this summer, including Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain and Manchester United's Wayne Rooney. However, only French U20 international Yaya Sanogo has arrived so far.
The youngster has not travelled with his new club for this Asian tour and has been granted additional leave to recuperate from his exertions at the FIFA U20 World Cup in Turkey, where he scored four times to lead France to the championship.
There will be a few other youngsters on show though, with Serge Gnabry, Damian Martinez, Kris Olsson, Chuba Akpom, Thomas Eisfeld, Chuks Aneke and Gedion Zelalem included in the squad.
Wilshere will also be the focus of much attention, as he looks to overcome the injury-riddled past 24 months and establish himself as a key performer for club and country. Spain internationals Santi Cazorla and Nacho Monreal are also unavailable, as they rest after international duty at the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup. Belgian centre-back Thomas Vermaelen is out with a back injury.
