Newcastle Knights vs Parramatta Eels

Newcastle has been flirting with eighth position on the ladder for the past month.
They currently sit in seventh spot on the ladder with 27 competition points and have the Cowboys, Warriors and Titans only one point behind them.
These three teams play Saturday, so Newcastle will now exactly where they stand heading into this game.
After the first twenty minutes of last week’s game against Brisbane, Newcastle’s season hung by a thread. They trailed by 14 points and needed to lift.
Newcastle’s senior players stood up and took control, leading the Knights to a 26 – 18 point win.
It was only Newcastle’s second win in the past five weeks and, should the make it into the finals as expected and wish to survive past the first week; they will need to find more than what they are currently producing.
Parramatta scrapped out their fifth win of the season over the struggling St. George last Monday night.
The victory was a momentary distraction for the Eels whose head coach Ricky Stuart, is fielding speculation that he is set to the leave the club after only one year in the job to return to Canberra.
Parramatta has yet to win away from home this year and against Newcastle have won the past four encounters between the two clubs.
Interestingly, only one of the past four games has produced a total match point score greater than 30 points.
Newcastle need to win and at home, are capable of scoring plenty of points.
