Poland vs Montenegro
Poland is entering their seventh match in the qualifying round being in a pretty much must win situation as they host Montenegro. Home side is at fourth position at the table, being in a really tough position as they are five points below Montenegro, but also having England and Ukraine in front of them.
After a 1:1 draw in Moldova, in their previous qualifying game, Poland is almost excluded from the World Cup race in this group, however they will have another chance, final one, in case they get all three points over group leaders from Montenegro. They were better side back in Moldova, but couldn’t find a way to the net, however still improved their performance with a 3:2 victory at home in a friendly match against Denmark in August. Still, the team is undefeated in last four matches and surely have slightly better atmosphere as they will try to get a victory and keep their hopes for qualifying to World Cup. Striker Sobiech is out with a muscular injury, while left back Piszczek wasn’t invited due to injury.
Montenegro spoiled an excellent picture of their team as they lost to Ukraine in last competitive match with a huge 4:0 difference at their own home. It was also their first defeat in the group, as all goals were scored in the second half, while Montenegro ended the game with nine players due to exclusion of Pavicevic and Volkov.
Still, team of coach Branko Brnovic remains at the top of the table counting fourteen points out of seven matches, but they have one match more played in comparison to their biggest rivals (England, Ukraine and Poland) and won’t be able to defend anything here as they also have a tough visiting of English national team in October. Away from home they have been doing quite well with three victories out of same number of matches and 8:0 goal difference. Guests will have to play without defenders Volkov and Pavicevic, who are suspended, while midfielders Drincic and Vukcevic are back into the team, while the attack should be led with Kasalica, Vucinic and Jovetic.
