Albania vs Switzerland
Switzerland will look to book a spot in the World Cup Finals when it takes on Albania on Friday.
With 18 points through eight games, the Swiss have opened up a five point lead atop Group E and only need a win to clinch the top spot. A loss or draw for Iceland in its game against Cyprus or a Slovenian defeat or tie against Norway would also be as good as a Swiss victory.
However, the team will not have an easy matchup on his hands as it must take on a desperate Albania side that is looking to finish in second place. With 10 points in eight games, Albania is just three points out of first place and could win the spot with two victories in its final two games; however a number of scenarios must work out in its favor. Albania is actually in fifth place and could finish as low as sixth with two losses in its final matches coupled with two victories for Cyprus in its remaining contests. Iceland sits in second place with 13 points while Slovenia has 12; Norway is in fourth with 11.
Albania will take on Cyprus in its final game and while nothing is assured, it has a big chance of pulling off a win against the weakest team in the side. If it beats Switzerland and Cyprus, then draws in the remaining games would essentially clinch the spot for Albania. An Iceland victory and draw would eliminate Albania from the World Cup qualifiers.
