Slovenia vs Norway
Slovenia and Norway will face off in a crucial World Cup qualifying battle on Friday.
Slovenia is still in the running for the top spot in the Group but will need a tremendous amount of luck and victory over Norway. The team can clinch a top spot if Switzerland loses against Albania and Slovenia defeats the Swiss on Tuesday. However, Slovenia would also need Iceland to lose against Cyprus and Norway on Tuesday.
Of course that scenario is highly improbable and the focus for Slovenia is likely on finishing in second place. That goal is far more realistic as the team only trails second place Iceland by one point. Losses to Iceland would be necessary to get a chance at the spot, but the team must still win its final two matches.
Norway can no longer clinch the top spot but is only two points out off second place. After the game against Slovenia, Norway would face off against Iceland with a chance to win and overtake the team for second place. Even if Iceland wins against Cyprus (a likely scenario), a Norwegian win on Friday would keep the team two points behind Iceland. A win would enable the team to leap past the Icelandic and into the coveted second place in the group.
Prediction: This will be one of the most exciting matches of the day and should feature terrific action. Expect the home team to pull off a 1-0 win.
