Sven Bender may get the nod ahead of Sebastian Kehl alongside Ilkay Gundogan in midfield, while Jakub Blaszczykowski is in a race to recover in time to replace Kevin Grosskreutz.
Malaga, meanwhile, will be without Weligton and Manuel Iturra, who both picked up costly yellow cards in the first leg of the meeting with Dortmund.
The likes of Sergio Sanchez, Francisco Portillo, Seba Fernandez and Pedro Morales are all expected to drop to the bench
Dortmund has drawn the first leg of a knock-out match on eight occasions and qualified six of those times.
