Miami Heat vs Cleveland Cavaliers
The Miami Heat will look to continue their run to the record books on Wednesday as the Heat look for consecutive win number 24 when Miami heads to Cleveland to face the Cavs.
The Cleveland Cavs would love to be the team to break the Miami Heat’s streak, so look for the Cavs to come out firing here on Wednesday against Miami. The Cavs do have a decent enough offense, scoring an average of 97.5 points per game, but the Cavs are hurting right now as Irving and Varejao are listed as out for tonight’s game while the status of Waiters and Speights is still up in the air.
The Cavs will give it all they have for sure, but even under the best circumstances upsetting this streak would be a tall order.
The Miami Heat will be looking for number 24 on Wednesday, and you can be assured that Mr. James does not want this run to end in Cleveland. The Heat are coming off a narrow win against the Celtics in Boston on Monday, defeating Boston 105-103. Look for the Heat to bounce back nicely here against the Cavs. Under normal circumstances I would expect this to be a game that is possibly overlooked by Miami, but not now.
The Heat currently have the fifth ranked offense in the league, and as I’ve been saying all season long, Miami has one of the best defensive units in the game, and even though Miami started out sluggish on the defensive end of the court, the Heat are now ranked eight in scoring defense and only getting better.
The Cleveland Cavs are 34-32-1 against the spread this season, while going 14-19 ATS at home.
The Heat are 35-31 against the spread on the year with a record of 18-15 against the spread on the road.
The Cavs are going to be without Irving, Varejao and Waiters tonight against a fully motivated and healthy Miami squad. Too easy right? When I first started handicapping, somebody much smarter than myself told me that if something looks too easy...go the other way (or just run). All signs here point to the Heat, but I'm backing the Cavs. This is the championship for Cleveland. The Cavs can end LeBron's run at the record, and on his old court nonetheless. Another angle here is that the line has barely budged, yet 95 percent of the tickets have been cashed on the Heat, meaning big money is on Cleveland. Sharp money plus intangible advantage = my free pick.
