St. Louis Blues vs Vancouver Canucks

The Blues and Canucks meet in Vancouver in a clash between two Western Conference playoff contenders.
The Blues have made huge strides over the past few seasons to get back into relevance in the Western Conference after being a doormat for a handful of years and to many this was the season that the Blues would emerge as a West powerhouse. The firing of Davis Payne and subsequent hiring of Ken Hitchcock was a brilliant move that led to the Central division title for St. Louis last season but so far this year they haven’t been able to replicate the same success and are light years behind the Blackhawks for the division title. However, St. Louis has been playing much better of late and will give Vancouver all they can handle in this one tonight.
Vancouver will be playing in a back to back in this spot after dropping a 3-1 decision on home ice against the Minnesota Wild last night and they’re in for another tough contest against the Blues. The Canucks are once again a favourite to emerge out of the Western Conference but something seems to be awry with this season’s version of the team as they seem to lack the oomph and swagger we are used to seeing. That could be attributed to an aging roster plagued with injuries or that teams have finally found out a way to defeat them but nonetheless the Canucks are beatable. Playing in a back to back I think is a disastrous spot for Vancouver and with St. Louis being one of the youngest teams in the league playing well rested I think they’re more than worth a look on the road here.
